To a southwestern desert dweller like me, Hawaii is like the planet Pandora from Avatar. Instead of sparse cacti there are monumental trees and thick brush, instead of dirt there is tall, wavy grass, and instead of arid weather there is continual rainfall giving life to the jungle around you.
